Dr. Tyler Simpson

Founder, CEO, DVM

I proudly graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008.  While I had a love for small animal medicine and surgery,  it was the genuine connection with clients and the family-like atmosphere of a small private practice that truly captured my heart. I strongly believe that no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.  This realization reinforced my belief that compassion and care are the pillars of exceptional veterinary care.

As a devoted pet parent myself to Emma, Max, and Rex, who are my beloved fur babies, I had a dream of opening a practice that catered to people who share the same passion for their pets as I do. In 2022, that dream became a reality as I founded FurWell Veterinary Hospital, a place where I could work directly with other pet parents to ensure that pets live their best, happiest, and healthiest lives.

If you, too, are a dedicated pet parent and understand the deep bond we share with our four-legged friends, I invite you to join our FurWell family. Together, we can make a positive impact in our community and the world. Your journey with us starts here, and I am excited to welcome you to our pet parent movement. Let’s change the world for the better, one paw at a time!

Dr. Dave Caldwell

DVM

Dr. Dave brings over a decade of experience in small animal medicine and a lifelong passion for animal care to the FurWell team. A proud graduate of the University of Tennessee, Dr. Dave earned his Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in 2004, followed by a Master’s in 2007, and ultimately his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2011.

For 10 years, Dr. Dave practiced small animal medicine in Georgia, developing a reputation for his thoughtful, thorough approach and his strong relationships with pet parents and their pets. In 2024, he and his wife Molly moved to the Landrum area to be closer to family and enjoy the vibrant equestrian community. They share their lives with 4 horses, 4 dogs, and 3 cats, making their home a true animal haven.

Dr. Dave was raised on a small farm in Waynesville, North Carolina, and that early experience continues to inspire his deep commitment to both animals and the people who love them. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys hiking, camping, horseback riding, and spending time with his animals.

We are honored to have Dr. Dave be part of FurWell’s mission to provide top-tier, personalized veterinary care.

Dannon is a Greenville native, born and raised here in the Upstate. Driven by her passion for animal medicine, she has worked in the veterinary field for an incredible 20 years. Dannon graduated from Piedmont Technical College in May of 2013 and passed her national and state board exams in November of 2013 to become a licensed veterinary technician. In 2019, Dannon wanted to pursue something more in this field and decided to explore practice management. She has since committed to making the hospital environment a positive place for our patients, pet parents, and employees.

In her free time Dannon loves to dive into a good novel. When she is not reading she is raising two boys, Nolan and Axel, alongside her high school sweetheart and husband John. Dannon also has an adorable golden retriever (Otter) that has become a major part of the family..

Melinda Greenlee

Hospital Administrator

Melinda has been in the veterinary field since 1995, became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 1997, and transitioned into veterinary management in 2018. With decades of hands-on clinical experience and leadership in practice operations, she brings both knowledge and heart to FurWell at Barkingham.

She is married to Rob and is the proud mom of her son, Will. At home, she shares life with two yellow labs, Millie and River, and one mischievous cat, June.

Mary Pack

LVT

Mary is a seasoned Licensed Veterinary Technician who has dedicated her life to the care and well-being of animals. Born and raised in the Upstate, she took a leap in 1983 and moved to Dallas, Texas, where she earned her degree in Veterinary Technology from Cedar Valley College in 1986. Since then, she’s worked in veterinary hospitals in Dallas, TX, and Slidell, LA—gaining decades of experience and compassion along the way.

In 1998, Mary returned to her roots in the Upstate and joined the team at Barkingham Palace—now FurWell at Barkingham—where she’s been a vital part of the clinic ever since. Her long standing commitment, deep veterinary knowledge, and steady presence have made her a beloved member of our team and a familiar face to generations of pet families.

When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll likely find Mary reading, crafting, enjoying time with loved ones, or relaxing with her two sweet dogs: Fiona, a playful two-year-old Great Dane mix, and Tilly, a wise and loyal nine-year-old pit mix.

Krishell Higgs

Client Advocate

With eight years of experience in veterinary medicine, Krishell brings a unique blend of compassion, creativity, and calm to the FurWell front desk. Before joining the animal-care world, she earned a degree in Interior Design and spent a year in South Korea teaching English as a second language.

Krishell shares her home with her beloved senior pets: two pups, Chewy and Leia, and two cats, Darth and Rosie. Her deep love for animals is the heartbeat behind her work, and she treats every pet parent and pet who walks through our doors with the same kindness she shows her own furry family.

Outside the clinic, you’ll find Krishell creating something beautiful—whether she’s knitting, crocheting, painting, or diving into a good book. She also enjoys relaxing with cozy video games and exploring South Carolina’s state parks with her sister.

And if you ever need someone to recite the alphabet backwards at lightning speed… ask Krishell. She’s impressively better at it in reverse.

We’re grateful to have her warmth, skill, and creativity as part of the FurWell team.
